Horse Racing | Zeditave Stakes

The Typhoon Tracy Stakes is a Group 3 held during the Melbourne Autumn Racing Carnival. It is a race for three-year-old fillies under set weight plus penalties conditions, and covers a distance of 1200m. Held the Typhoon Tracy Stakes Day, the Group 3 feature offers $150,000 in prize money and tends to attract handy sprinters from across the state. First run back in 2011, the race is named after champion mare Typhoon Tracy, who won six Group 1 races, including the Coolmore Classic and the Myer Classic, and was named Australian Racehorse of the Year for 2009/2010.

Trained by Peter Moody, Typhoon Tracy won 10 of her 16 careers starts with two further placings earning connections almost $2m in stakes. Moody was particularly pleased to win the inaugural running of the Typhoon Tracy Stakes in 2011 with Miss Gai Flyer. On a sad note, Typhoon Tracy died in August 2012 soon after delivering her first foal.
