Cranbourne Cup Day is one the biggest social events in the City of Casey and is part of the famous Melbourne Spring Carnival. Held at the famous Cranbourne Turf Club, the Cranbourne Cup is a major provincial cup and often used as a lead up to the Caulfield Cup. The action is not just restricted to the track, with the Myer Fashions on the Field a mainstay on the second Sunday in October. The catwalk is divided into two categories – Lady of the Day and Man of the Day! With free entertainment and rides for the kids, it has become a great day out for the whole family.
This major country race day in the Victorian Gippsland dates back to 1867. There are normally ten races on the program, with the Apache Cat Classic worth $100,000 a handy support event for the Cup. With a redeveloped grandstand, the Cranbourne complex hosts more than 100 race meetings annually across three codes. Cranbourne is 48kms south east of Melbourne.
