Horse Racing | Mumm Stakes

The MUMM Stakes, also known as the Dilmah Earl Grey Stakes, is a Listed race held on Crown Oaks Day during the Melbourne Spring Carnival. A race for three year old's, it is run over 1000m and is contested under set weights and penalties conditions. Given the short distance, this race favours sprinters, and the horse that is quick out of the blocks, usually comes away with the major prize money. The race has gone from strength to strength over a short period of time, going from a minnow race to one of the more prominent race on Oaks Day.

The stakes have also been lifted to $150,000 which makes it even more appealing. This race has attracted some classy horses over the years, from the renowned Quarterback (2014) to the ever impressive Lankan Rupee (2013), who was ridden by the veteran Craig Newitt at the time.
