Horse Racing | Seymour Cup

The Seymour Cup is one of the premier country cups in Victoria during the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival. An Open Handicap race, it’s run over 1600m and boasts $150,000 in prize money. In the country racing world, the Seymour Cup is up there with the best of them. The Cup usually attracts a decent field and often handy horses from the city make the trek to the picturesque course.

Since its inception in 1882, the race has fielded some quality competitors, such as Tears I Cry, who finished 3rd in 2007 (behind Correct Amoondo and You Sexy Boy), before placing in the Crystal Mile and then taking out the Group 1 Emirates Stakes.
