Horse Racing | The Heath 1100

Renamed The Resimax Stakes for the 2016 edition,The Heath 1100 is a Group 3 race held on Memsie Stakes Day during the Melbourne Spring Carnival. An 1100m race for horses aged four and above, it is run under set weights plus penalties and is ideal for sprinters. Since its inception, the race has gone through many name changes over the years, from the GB Galvanising Sprint to the Jayco Plate.

It wasn’t until 2013 that the Heath 1100 became more prestigious, upgraded from a Listed event to a Group 3 race. In 2013, Blue Diamond winner Samaready was successful after a long layoff from racing and went on to win the Group 1 AJ Moir. Other notable winners of this sprint include; First Command, Undue and Monahan Tweed.
