The All Aged Stakes Day is one of the final race days at the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival and is the last feature race program held at Randwick in autumn. It may not have the prominence of other events during the carnival, but it still hosts one of the premier weight-for-age races on the Australian Racing Calendar, the Group 1 All Aged Stakes and the last leg of Sydney’s two-year-old ‘Triple Crown’, the Group 1 ATC Champagne Stakes. Held at the famous Royal Randwick Racecourse, it generally draws a decent crowd to the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney to see history in the making.
It is always a great day out for the family, with Fashions on the Field, live entertainment and events for kids of all ages. The All Aged Stakes itself dates back to 1865 when Maid Of The Lake was successful. This time-honoured turf event has been won by many champions from different eras in Australian racing. These days, the total prize money for the day, which includes two Group 1s, four Group 3s and two minor support races, is almost $1.6m.
