Part of the two-day Scone Cup Carnival in mid-May, Dark Jewel Classic Day is on the Saturday, following the Listed Scone Cup (1600m). Metropolitan, provincial and country trainers provide the horse flesh over the two days at the modernized Scone Racecourse. Located approximately 270 kilometres north of Sydney, the provincial town of Scone is largely recognised as the horse capital of Australia.
The Group 3 Dark Jewel Classic is the headlining feature of the carnival. It’s a Group 3 Quality for fillies and mares. Other listed events over the carnival are the Ortensia Stakes, the Luskin Star Stakes, the Denise’s Joy Stakes, the Woodlands Stakes and the Inglis 3YO Guineas.
