Horse Racing | Hall Mark Stakes

The Hall Mark Stakes is a Group 3 race for three-year-olds and older, at set weights plus penalties conditions. It takes place during the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival on All Aged Stakes Day. Held at the famous Royal Randwick Racecourse, it is run over a distance of 1200m and offers prize money of $150,000. Earlier races at the carnival like the Group 3 Maurice McCarten Stakes and the Group 3 Star Kingdom Stakes have been traditional lead ups for this event which offers some black type for the victors. Starting off as a Listed Race, this event was elevated to Group 3 status in 2013.

Above average horses which have enjoyed Hall Mark Stakes success in the past include; Tiger Tees (2012), Ego’s Dare (2010), All Our Mob (1994) and Euclase (1991). This event is named in honour of Hall Mark who in the early 1930s won the AJC Sires Produce, the Champagne Stakes, the Underwood Stakes, the AJC Derby, the VRC Derby, the Melbourne Cup, the VRC St Leger and the Doncaster Handicap just to name a few.
