Horse Racing | Hawkesbury Guineas

The Hawkesbury Guineas is a Group 3 Open Handicap for three-year-olds held annually in early May. The feature is a premier race on Hawkesbury Cup Day, one of the great country racing events that falls just after the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival. The event is run over a distance of 1400m at the Hawkesbury Racecourse, one of the best country clubs in New South Wales. With $150,000 up for grabs, the race tends to attract better than handy gallopers which may be looking to ease back into racing after their autumn campaign.

Chris Waller’s Boban ran second in the Hawkesbury Guineas in 2013 before going on to winning multiple Group 1s. In 2014, promising sprinter Chautauqua was successful in the Guineas before embarking on a successful spring campaign which resulted in two impressive wins down the Flemington ‘straight six’ and a close second to Terravista in the Group 1 VRC Sprint at the end of that carnival.
