Horse Racing | Light Fingers Stakes

Featuring annually in mid-February on Apollo Stakes Day, the Light Fingers Stakes is a prominent Group 2 thoroughbred horse race run at Sydney’s iconic Royal Randwick Racecourse. It is named after 1965 Melbourne Cup winner Light Fingers, who was trained by Bart Cummings. The event is restricted to three-year-old fillies and is run under set weight conditions. A Listed Race from 1983 to 1985, it was elevated to Group 2 status in 1986, and bar for a couple of years (1987-90), that’s where it has remained.
