Horse Racing | Magic Night Stakes

The Magic Night Stakes is a Group 2 race which takes place on Coolmore Classic Day. The Magic Night Stakes is a race for two-year-old fillies under set weights conditions over a distance of 1200m. Held at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse, it is held a week before the Group 1 Golden Slipper and is a last chance for borderline hopefuls to qualify for Australia’s richest juvenile race.

The event is named in honour of Magic Night, the winner of the Golden Slipper Stakes in 1961. Only four fillies have won the Magic Night – Golden Slipper double, Toy Show (1975), Dark Eclipse (1980), Bounding Away (1986) and Bint Marscay (1993). The winner of this race receives automatic entry to the Golden Slipper Stakes.
