Horse Racing | PJ Bell Stakes

The PJ Bell Stakes is a Group 3 race that takes place during the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival. Held at the famous Royal Randwick Racecourse on Day 1 of The Championships, it is a race for three-year-old fillies at set weights plus penalties. One of the better Group 3 races during the Carnival, the PJ Bell attracts some handy fillies to battle it out over a distance of 1200m.

Prize money for this event is $200,000. Originally a Listed Race, the PJ Bell Stakes gained Group 3 status in 2013. It normally attracts the best young females in training at the time. Some quality fillies have won this event over the years including; Catkins (2013), Red Tracer (2011), Ortensia (2009), Private Steer (2003) and Dane Ripper (1997).
