Horse Racing | Skyline Stakes

The Skyline Stakes is a Group 2 race held at Warwick Farm Racecourse. Taking place on Chipping Norton Stakes Day, it is one of the better Group 2 races contested during the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival. A race for two-year old colts and geldings, it’s run over a distance of 1200m at set weights. The race is named after Skyline, the winner of the Golden Slipper Stakes and the ATC Australian Derby in 1958.

The winner of the Skyline Stakes receives automatic entry into the Slipper Stakes. Only five horses have completed the Skyline – Golden Slipper double; Sir Dapper (1983), Star Watch (1988), Guineas (1997), Prowl (1998) and Dance Hero (2004). Like the Sweet Embrace for fillies, the Skyline allows trainers to test their colts and geldings at 1200m ahead of the Golden Slipper.
