The Star Kingdom Stakes is a Group 3 Open Handicap horse race that features on one of the biggest days of the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival, BMW Stakes Day. Also known as the Sebring Stakes, the race is run over 1200m at Rosehill Racecourse and is open to all horses aged three-years-old and upwards. The event consistently attracts solid, in-form sprinters that aren’t quite at Group 1 level but have shown ability in the past. Horses that compete in the Star Kingdom Stakes usually use the Group 2 Challenge Stakes as a lead up race. If they run well, they tend to go on to race in the Group 1 TJ Smith Stakes.
Gai Waterhouse’s Swift Alliance is one of three horses (Bradshaw & Friend’s Venture) which have claimed back-to-back Star Kingdom Stakes. The race is also known as the Sebring Stakes. He was a top line two-year-old colt trained by Gai Waterhouse who won five of his six race starts. After success in the Golden Slipper and AJC Sires Produce, the sensational son of More Than Ready missed Triple Crown when beaten a short head by Samantha Miss in the Champagne Stakes. Injury forced his premature retirement and Sebring is now proving to be a successful sire.
