Horse Racing | Sweet Embrace Stakes

The Sweet Embrace Stakes is a Group 2 race held at Warwick Farm Racecourse. Taking place during the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival, it is a part of Chipping Norton Stakes Day alongside other big races such as the Group 1 Chipping Norton Stakes and Group 2 Skyline Stakes. Over 1200m, it is a race for two-year-old fillies, conducted at set weights. The event is named after the famous racehorse Sweet Embrace, who won the Golden Slipper Stakes back in 1967. The race has changed venues over the years, but will be conducted at Warwick Farm in 2015.

It was a Listed Race from the beginning in 1979, until it changed to a Group 3 in 1987, and then finally reached Group 2 status in 2013. The winner of the Sweet Embrace is exempt from ballot in the world’s richest juvenile race, the Group 1 Golden Slipper. Crystal Lily is the last filly to win the Sweet Embrace and go on to victory in the Slipper.
