Horse Racing | TL Baillieu Handicap

The TL Baillieu Handicap is a Group 3 horse race for two-year-olds of both sexes. Run under handicap conditions over the 1400m track at Rosehill Racecourse, the event is one of the prominent races to fall on BMW Stakes Day, one of the prominent days of the Sydney Autumn Racing calendar. Known recently as The Schweppervescence, the race is now named in honour of former Australian Jockey Club Chairman Tom Latham Baillieu.

The event was originally a Listed Race when inaugurated in 1986. However, it was elevated to Group 3 status in 2011. A number of classy gallopers have won the event in the past, including Skilled (2010) and Metality (2006). This event has previously been run at Randwick and Warwick Farm, but has been a firm fixture at Rosehill since 2010.
