Horse Racing | Golden Rose Stakes Day

Held annually in mid-September, Golden Rose Stakes Day is one of the biggest events of the Sydney Spring Racing Carnival. Headlining the impressive programme is the Group 1 Golden Rose, a much sought-after set weights event for three-year-olds with prize money of $1 million. It is the only $1m event of the spring in New South Wales. The Golden Rose was previously known as the Peter Pan Stakes, with Aussie turf champions like Kingston Town (1979), Sir Dapper (1983) and Brave Warrior (1994) on the honour roll.

Golden Rose Stakes Day is one of Rosehill Racecourse’s premier events of the year, and the quality of racing tends to see thousands flock the Western-Sydney venue. Other races on the card include the Group 2 Theo Marks Stakes, the Group 3 Kingston Town Stakes and Sheraco Stakes.
