Horse Racing | Ming Dynasty Quality

The Ming Dynasty Quality is a Group 3 race held at the famous Royal Randwick Racecourse on Chelmsford Stakes Day. It is part of the Sydney Spring Racing Carnival alongside some prominent Group 2 races such as the Furious Stakes and the Chelmsford Stakes. It covers a distance of 1400m and is a race for three-year-olds under quality handicap conditions. With prize money of $125,000, the Dynasty Quality tends to attract handy sprinters from all parts.

Starting off as a Listed Race in 1986, it finally reached Group 3 status in 2013. It is named after the champion horse Ming Dynasty, who won the Australian Cup (1978 & 1980) and the Caulfield Cup (1977 & 1980) twice, as well as the Queen Elizabeth Stakes (1978). Some of the more notable winners of this event include; Lion Tamer (2010), Predatory Pricer (2008), Lonhro (2001), Adam (1997) and Kinjite (1991).
