CAPITALIST

The Snowden trained colt makes his return here and has been sharpened up for this with two official barrier trials. Both trials were over the 850m at Randwick, with the first trial producing a run that would have rival trainers taking notice. Settling 3rd on the rails Capitalist was getting keen and Kerrin McEvoy held him up and once given his cues sprinted sharply and quickly opened up a margin on his rivals. The 2nd trial he was deep throughout and hitting the straight paired off with Winx half-brother El Divino to break-away from the pack. Never fully tested, Capitalist had a neck to spare on the line. The 3YO had a near perfect season to start his career, winning four of his five starts and finishing 2nd in the other. The season highlight was undeniably his win in the Golden Slipper and this week will be the perfect launching... read more The Snowden trained colt makes his return here and has been sharpened up for this with two official barrier trials. REBEL DANE

After starting his career with four successive wins, the now 7YO has managed to win just 3 of his next 27 starts. The Gary Portelli trained gelding competed at the highest level throughout his last campaign, taking on the best sprinters in a 6 start campaign. Starting in the G2 Australia Stakes over 1200m at Moonee Valley he finished 3rd, beaten 1 length behind Holler. His next five starts were all in Group 1 events, finishing just on 1.5 lengths from the winner in both the C F Orr at Caulfield and the Futurity also at Caulfield. Returning to Sydney his next 3 starts were in the Galaxy behind Griante, the TJ Smith behind Chautauqua and the All Aged behind English. In his favour is his 1st up record which is 8: 4-1-2 and he has placed three times from four runs over the Randwick 1200m course.

MOUNT NEBO

After four starts this campaign the Allan Denham trained 7YO will tackle a Group race for the first time since his 3YO season. A three start campaign over the summer saw him well below his best and he was sent back to the spelling paddock after finishing down the track behind Coolring in a benchmark 93 at Rosehill. Resuming in the Listed June Stakes at Randwick over 1100m he ran on well from the rear to finish a 2 length second behind Danish Twist. Next up over 1200m at Randwick he carried 56kg and overcame a wide barrier to land a good win. That earned him a shot at the Listed Ramornie Handicap at Grafton where he was under one length from the winner. He found the 61kg on a heavy 8 too much of a burden at his latest start and looks suited at Randwick where his record is... read more After four starts this campaign the Allan Denham trained 7YO will tackle a Group race for the first time since his 3YO season.
