Held annually in early October during the Sydney Spring Racing Carnival is the prestigious Spring Champion Stakes Day. With the racing calendar revamped in 2014, this was the first time Spring Champion Stakes Day was afforded stand- alone status, with the Australian Turf Club opting to move the Group 1 from Epsom Handicap Day to a week later. Headlining the Day is the $500,000 Group 1 Spring Champions Stakes, with the Group 2 Roman Consul Stakes also a prominent feature on the program. The event was held at Randwick Racecourse in Sydney and the venue is expected to remain the same over the coming years.
Spring Champion Stakes Day is marketed as the ‘glamour day’ of the carnival, filled with trackside fashion, fun and famous faces. It features the NSW State Final for the Myer Fashions on the Field, with a $100,000 prize pool. Other activities include complimentary trackside pampering, mini massages, a DJ and live music.
