Horse Racing | Toy Show Quality

The Toy Show Quality is a Group 3 held on Warwick Stakes Day. Staged at Royal Randwick Racecourse during the Sydney Spring Racing Carnival, it is on the same race card as some prominent Group 2 events such as the Warwick Stakes and the Silver Shadow Stakes. A race for fillies and mares under quality handicap conditions, the Show Quality covers a distance of 1300m and offers $125,000 in prize money. Starting off as a Listed Race in 1995, the event gained Group 3 status in 2013. It has been used in the past as a good indicator of how a horse will travel in the Group 2 Theo Marks Stakes and the Group 3 Kingston Town Stakes.

The race is named in honour of the champion filly Toy Show, who won the Thousand Guineas, Golden Slipper Stakes and Newmarket Handicap in the mid-70s. One of the more prominent winners of this race was the Chris Waller trained Red Tracer in 2011. It was the first of three straight victories for Waller.
